Christian Education Programs

The New Milford United Methodist Church is very excited about our Sunday school program and we are convinced that it is among the finest in any church!
We have Sunday school for children from 10:30 to 11:10 a.m, then all children meet together to sing together from 11:10 – 11:25 am. We believe that even the youngest among us are capable of understanding the love that Jesus Christ has to offer. Through scripture based curriculums we bring key biblical stories alive, combined with age appropriate mission projects, our children learn that even the youngest and smallest have a big role in God’s kingdom. Additionally, NMUMC follows the guidelines of Safe Sanctuaries, a comprehensive program to help insure the safety of youth, children and the adults that work with them.
Adult have several opportunities for Sunday School: at 9:00 am & 11:00 am on Sunday mornings we offer the “Living the Questions” curriculum.
Christian Kids those kids in grades 3 through 6 is restructuring. Please see the calendar on this website or contact the church office for dates.
All seventh through twelfth graders are welcome to join our very active Youth Group which alternates meeting at our Church and the Gaylordsville United Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. for a program or activity. Led by church members, our youth have enjoyed helping in our food pantry “Our Daily Bread,” overnights at the Church, selling Christmas trees for our United Methodist Men to use for scholarship and serving meals at the local soup kitchen “Loaves and Fishes.” In the last few years we have participated in summer mission trips through the Appalachian Service Project (ASP) a mission project helping families in need in Appalachia and UM ARMY in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Jersey. NMUMC believes through meaningful mission opportunities and fellowship, our youth will embrace the eternal truths of the Gospels in their lives-passing it on to the next generation.
Confirmation Classes are offered for all youth in eighth grade and above. This program runs for 10 weeks and culminates on Pentecost Sunday, when they become confirmed members of our church. Please contact the church office to be put on our mailing list for the next Confirmation class in 2013.
