Sunday School

Children have an innate sense of the presence of God. The Godly Play approach helps them to explore their faith through story to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience through wonder and play. Based on Montessori principles, and developed using a spiral curriculum, the Godly Play Method serves children through early, middle and late childhood and beyond... Come join us!

I met with our contact lady at the First Congregational Church of New Milford on Wednesday, May 10th, to discuss  the details of the VBS program we will be part of this year. Her name is Carol Mckay and her associate Sunday school teacher, Mrs. Donna Mackenzie. They greeted me warmly and were so excited to have any adult help! They have both been associated with their Sunday school for many years. They have teenagers that volunteer the entire time. The curriculum they chose is a game theme, Lifeway TWIST and TURNS. With a similar set up as we had done years ago.  The children will be welcomed in their large Parish room (like our Fellowship room) registered and put into 5 groups according to their age. They will be with 2 older teenagers , who will walk them through different activities such as:Music, Crafts, Bible story and Outside games. All areas will follow a certain Bible passage for the day and theme throughout the activities. For instance: “Following Jesus changes the game”I will be the Crafts leader. They will come together at the end of the day (1230p) for the theme luncheon! included. We can use adults or teens to volunteer for part or all the day (9-1230).We can use volunteers to make food of which they will make the suggestions.Cost: $35 for 1 child, $63. 2 children, 81 for three or more. They must cap attendance to 60 due to space.I was told there is scholarship money available for VBS.Attached find the complete info and registration. Copies will be available outside the office on Sunday morning, as well.Thank you, Terri

Our youngest parishioners start building a strong faith foundation with our sacred stories. We come together to listen and wonder about the story.

"We enter into parables, silence, sacred stories and sacred liturgy in order to discover God, ourselves, one another and the world around us."
