History

New Milford United Methodist Church has a long and storied history. We have been a part of the New Milford Community since 1849, when the members of the Northville and Lanesville churches joined together to begin a church in the village proper (i.e. "New Milford"). For our first 120 years, the church sanctuary stood on Elm Street in downtown New Milford. Having outgrown our space on Elm Street, in 1969, we moved to our current location on Danbury Road. Since our arrival, we have continued to grow adding additional multi-use spaces to our church buildings. Over these 170 years in ministry, our church has been lead by more than a dozen United Methodist pastors and has served hundreds (if not thousands) of families in the New Milford, CT area. Today, we are proud to be an ongoing part of the history of our church and our local community.
